ECHUCA to BENDIGO

FEBRUARY 16

Went into Echuca today to check out the town and to organise a paddle steamer cruise on the Murray.
Very hot so into the pool.
Merool on the Murray Caravan Park

FEBRUARY 17

Went to the Moama markets this morning, a great setting and a very busy market, lots of people as it was the River Boat Festival weekend.

FEBRUARY 18

Shepparton is calling today so off to discover the so called cheaper tins of fruit. Goulburn River Valley-all irrigated. We found our way through Mooroopna and onto Shepparton.
Mike showed me the motel where he stayed years ago when he was in Shepparton for Dairy Week.
We had a great time at SPC Ardmona and came away with 2 cartons of canned fruit and some other bits and pieces.
Now it is Campbell's turn to see what we can find. Came away with a carton of mixed Chunky Meals ( great for winter, if we ever have one!!!!)
Bundle all these cartons into the back of the truck, bet we are heavy now!!!!

FEBRUARY 19

A special day today, a river cruise on the paddle steamer Emmylou. We had lunch on board and meandered up and down the river, FANTASTIC. Can't say the dirty Murray River. Or the rather unsightly river banks did much for us. But the cruise was perfect.

Echuca Jetty

We passed the well known Echuca jetty and boy is it high especially when you realise that in times of flood you have to board the river boats from the top of the jetty.
Mike went forward to meet the captain and he was telling Mike that in 1996 they loaded people from the top tier of the jetty. Hard to imagine the river so high.
Home and into the pool.

FEBRUARY 20

Shopping today in Moama, tried to fill up with fuel but computers not working, oh well will try later.
Had a stroll around caravan park and checked out all the holiday homes both on land and water. There are houseboats everywhere.

Shades of 'Titanic'
FEBRUARY 21

Pack up today.

Pioneer Cottages for rent. Great Frontages.
FEBRUARY 2

Bendigo here we come. We had a leisurely drive south and as most of the country has access to irrigation channels so some very lush summer feed, probably sorghum or maize.
